1 MW Solar Cell Power Plant with Solar Weighted Tracking System by Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT)
Dr. Wannarat Channukul, Ministry of Energy, chaired the opening of 1 MW Solar Cell Power Plant with Solar Weighted Tracking System at Sirindhorn Dam, Ubonratchathani on November 30, 2009. The power plant is operated by EGAT and entrusts Leonics to choose grid connected central inverters with the Monitoring and Management Software, which have been designed and manufactured by Leonics. The solar cell power plant generates approximately 1.449 million units of electricity per year that can lessen the use of fuel oil of 348,000 liters each year as well as minimizing the release of carbon dioxide of 851.1 tons per year.
The solar cell power plant is one project of EGAT’s renewable energy development projects under the national renewable portfolio standard (RPS) strategy from Ministry of Energy in order to increase the use of renewable energy for power generation. Furthermore, the solar cell power plant will be developed to be the study center for all those interested in solar power generation.
